Mmk… so here’s the WoW related post John‘s been dreading.

Only it’s more about the stupidity and arrogance of people than the game itself (which would normally be a happy type post as I love WoW).

I’m rockin’ it out with my lvl 70 belf ‘lock naturally but, as many other players do, I also have alts. So I’m rockin’ it out on my lvl 22 pally as well when I have someone start telling me “you need to do this for this and blah blah” – which this is my second pally, kthnx, I know.

I tell this person “yeah I’ve done this before I know” – more than once – and I can’t help but [still] wonder why people feel the need to try to act superior. I mean if I tell you that I know something why are you going to try to give me more info on it?

Do you REALLY think that you’re that smart, or is it that you’re trying to impress me on your vast knowledge or show off your mad mistbat killing skillz as you tell me that the reward of a quest I’ve told you countless times I’ve already completed is a polearm?

[By the way that was funny – “Don’t help me!” he says as I’m running by – he’s attempting to kill something a couple levels below him and dying XD while demonstrating his oh-so-profound insight as to just what you get out of doing so.]

Anyhoo – then there are the newcomers to the game who think that you managed to play it for so long and get to level 70 without knowing anything. I guess I got there with my head up my ass and I know nothing at all so yes, nublets, please tell me that grey gear is bad (while I’m mostly sporting epics) or that priests heal.

The best was when I was told that warlocks get demons as I stand there with my imp… Keep telling me what classes can do what, what I ‘should’ be doing, what this or that is… because really I have no fucking clue.

Now if it was coming from my boyfriend or someone else who’s played longer and really does know more about the game it wouldn’t be such a problem. There’s always room to learn and yada yada yada.

It’s just the complete noobs coming in telling me the most basic shit like it’s something no one else has ever figured out… and when I tell you that I already know something just stfu about it already or – like the mistbat killing pally full of knowledge the other day – you’ll find your ass kicked out of my group for being a showoff [and I wasn’t even the one who kicked him haha].

  1. I had to have a friend of mine translate some of the WoW language you spoke.

Seriously though, even though this is a WoW scenario you’re talking about, I used to get this a lot when I was working in radio. Here I am, doing my job for a few years, and part timers that barely know squat are trying to tell me how to do my job. They were the ones I’d end up giving the shit work to.

  2. Didn’t quite follow most of that, however, that’s unfortunately the case with noobs everywhere. People like to feel superior, I suppose. So when they figure something out, they have to boast about it and tell everyone, even if everyone already knows. Those kind of people bother me cause bleh, who cares what you have to say heh.

  3. Panda… Did you know that when you sit down and drink water your mana goes up?!?! OR that warlocks have this cool thing called life tap that they can turn health into mana with.

Warlocks also get summoned-horse mounts…. Just thought you should know that ;)

  4. Welcome to the world of online gaming.

You’ll come across asshole that think they know what they are talking about pretty much anywhere you go. Best thing to do is just show them up and not say a word. =)

…gaming wise that is. Not IRL…

…there is no IRL, only AFK.
