Stephen Hawking went to “space” this week. It was really just a plane that simulates zero gravity for like, 30 seconds a clip. Wow, how cool that must be. $3,500 for a plane ride that takes you up and down and up and down.
Why not just pay $79, have a real destination, and fly JetBlue? It’s basically the same thing, but you get a free bag of pretzels!
Yeah, he looks happy to be there.
And is it me or does he look like he could be skinnier than Nicole Richie?
Maybe he looks so gaunt because his time is almost up? The life expectancy for someone with ALS is 3-4 years, and he was diagnosed when he was 21. (He’s 65 now.)
And he didn’t have to pay, apparently. He also said this about why:
“Many people have asked me why I am taking this flight. I am doing it for many reasons. First of all, I believe that life on Earth is at an ever increasing risk of being wiped out by a disaster such as sudden global warming, nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus, or other dangers. I think the human race has no future if it doesn’t go into space. I therefore want to encourage public interest in space.”
