So it’s finally over. Barack Obama is the (projected) nominee for the Democratic Party for the President of the United States.
Unless, of course, Hillary decides to do something about it.
That’s right, she could do what Al Gore did a few years ago and take this thing to court. Or maybe she’ll use this as political blackmail to force Obama to make her his Vice President.
She could have walked out months ago… but no… she had to let this drag on like midget porn.
I’m glad it’s finally ending as well. I’m not as political as you, nor do I like to follow American affairs too much, but I’m glad your chosen one has won. ^_^
I was hoping she’d drag this out to the convention just because it would confirm every negative thing I thought about her. That she actually appears to be bowing out with some modicum of grace vexes me.
What grace? By not acknowledging his delegates win? By practically strong arming him into making her his VP or else she’d stay in? By asking her supporters what she should do next, in the hopes there are people out there that still want her to keep running? By waiting four days after she LOST the primaries to finally concede?!?!
As a European citizen I do find the US elections interesting… but … all the focus on Hillary & Obama - in the end the Republicans will get the job. That’s what happened last time Bush got elected again. So I’m not sure about this whole election thing … maybe I’m prejudiced … may the best person win and in the end be a good president for the US.
Do you know what one of the major strategies was to smear and slam McCain in 2000? His fellow Republicans spread rumors that he’d fathered a black baby. So McCain was hurt, at least in part, because he was rumored to have slept with a black woman.
Now, given the choice between somebody that they think fathered a half white/half black baby and a man who is actually half white/half black, who do you think the apparently important mouth breathing racist segment of the voters of the USA are going to choose?
There were some really choice clips from the West Virginia primaries of folks out and out saying that they weren’t voting for him because he was black. In 2008. Check out the Daily Show take on it:
