A little too much love…

Senator Barack Obama has been labeled as unpatriotic because of his failure to wear a flag lapel pin, which he now does all the time.

But maybe he could have shown his love in a different way.

Meet Sam Bloomfield.

He’s from the island of Tonga, moved to the US, and decided to show his love by tattooing “Land of the Free” and “God Bless America” under his eyes.

Then he tattooed “USA” on his forehead.

And now he has the flag.  On his face.

Me?  I bought a t-shirt, thanks.

So my question:  If Barack Obama tattooed a flag on his face, would you vote for him?

Firstly, a lot of people think tattoos are unprofessional. I happen to have three (and plan on getting more in a few weeks or so), and could really care less. But to express your love for your country on your face is a little — okay, a lot — above and beyond. No one would take you seriously like that.

Generally, tattoos are a waste on black people.

Why would you say that, Mary?

Be assured that in no way was my comment meant to sound racist. Just in my general opinion, tattoos aren’t the ideal form of body art for those who are extremely dark in complection.
My appologies to those who may take offense.

Agreed with Mary. You can’t really see tattoos on really dark-skinned people, because the ink is only a little darker on their skin. Plus, the colors don’t really stand out. And since white ink doesn’t really show up as white, it’s just used for shading, there really are no options for really dark-skinned people.

For comparison, you can’t really use crayons on brown or black construction paper.

I understand why this subject was started since the person who is the focus of John article is, in fact, black.

In other news, the important question here isn’t why this guy has a tattoo on his face. It is why don’t Senators McCain or Obama. They both claim to love American, but if they really loved America, they would tattoo the flag all over their bodies. In fact, the only way to judge whether somebody loves their country is to see how many square inches of their body they are willing to cover with Old Glory.

I see the humor in your comment Joey and I’ll contribute by saying that I believe there are many more practical ways of showing patriotism than having the American flag tattooed anywhere on your body - regardless if your a politician or a ‘civilian.’ I’m a big fan of tattooes (proudly have 3 and anxious for more), however I wouldn’t consider permanently imprinting Old Glory anywhere on my body. Call me unpatriotic - I’ll continue to celebrate the fourth of July each year and stand up when they perform the National Anthem during the local speedway races :)

I wouldn’t say Obama isn’t patriotic just because he doesn’t have a tattoo for the country on his face. Maybe in some other ways. But, some people could just be terrified of needles (including myself :P)

I wonder what he does for a living. But… will it be unpatriotic to not employ him?
