Holiday Karma

There’s something about the holidays that brings out the absolute worst in people. So considering my almighty position of being not only a TDE writer, but also a retail sales person, I want everyone to be extra nice this year.

To every single person you can. Especially service people.

The man in India handling your banking issue, the taxi that just cut you off and especially the people serving you coffee, bagging your groceries, driving your taxi.

Especially sales people: the perfume girl in Macy’s, the guy selling the diamond necklace for your wifey, the lady telling you can’t have whatever it is you want for whatever reason.

This season, as loving and sweet as it is supposed to be, is so hard on us service people so just until it’s over try to over compensate for all the assholes that are out there. Attitudes are contagious - just like smiles and holiday cheer - spread the LOVE!

    I remember the stress my siblings went through working in service when they’re on breaks from school/college. My parents never let me work, though.

    So that’s a pretty good idea. Spread the cheer. Spread the love, baby.

    I totally agree. But I don’t think this is something we should be doing just around the holiday season… ya know?

    You’re totally right. I agree with John - it shouldn’t just be the holiday season, it should be all the time… though since people get grumpy this time a year I do think we need to step it up a bit.

    I agree. There was something on TV yesterday about respecting service people all year long and it’s true. It doesn’t take long to say ‘thank you’ for something simple like someone holding a door open or bagging your groceries.
