Words cannot express how I feel right now

I’ll make it short and sweet.

Some asshole just smacked into my car Monday night. My parked car.

I ran out the house, made sure he didn’t leave the scene, called the cops, and took pictures of what he left me. Cosmetically, the right quarter panel was pushed in a little and scratched up. My poor car was pushed back a good 10 to 15 feet, and the left driver’s tire was up on the curb.

The police came to the scene, took both our information, and wrote him up three tickets. One of them was for open container (apparently you’re not allowed to drive with an open bottle of Corona), one was for driving while on the cell phone (you’d think with alcohol in the car he’d need his hands free for that, but nooooooo), and I’m guessing the third was for the accident itself.

BUT HERE’S THE BEST PART! I moved my car to get it off the curb, and there is some kind of LOUD, BANGING NOISE when I moved the car. So now my transmission is probably shot, the axle is probably bent, and I have no car until this is settled.

Yes, I called their insurance company. I gave them all the information the police officers gave me. They gave me a telephone number and the name of an adjuster.

But now I have no way to do anything I need to get done, like… take my son home, run errands, go to work. You know, the basics.

That happened to me before. Some guy was high on methadone and crashed into my parked car and the officers didn’t arrest him for driving under the influence because he was taking a prescription. Complete bull. But, I hated the car anyway and got way more than it was worth from his insurance (I guess even junkies have insurance).

Things could be worse - the guy could’ve sped off, leaving you with a smashed car and no explanation and no insurance company to bitch at.

Make his insurance get you a rental.

Agreed. You can’t work or take care of your son unless you have a vehicle. I’d have my insurance call his insurance ASAP and tell them you need a rental.

Glad we both had AMAZING Mondays!
