What the Hell is that sound?

For the past few months I have been trying to figure out what that ticking sound is. I would slow down, and the sound would slow with me.

Ever since my accident in December, I noticed there was something awry. I figured it was my brakes and I would eventually deal with it.

On the way home after work, the ticking sound got real annoying. “What the Hell is that sound,” I asked to the person on the phone with me, who had no idea what I was talking about since they were… you know… on the phone and not in the car.

I pulled over, expecting the worst. In fact, it was exactly what I had figured, a flat tire. I told my phone party I’d call them back and went to work. Unloaded the trunk, jacked the car, took the tire off, and burned myself on the metal that was revealed.

On the thread.

Apparently, what happened was when I got into the accident, the back tire skidded and kind of picked up a little bit more wear and tear than I gathered.

In just.

That.

Spot.

It was the perfect little oval, surrounded with a circle of metal lining, then a flat rubber circle before the treads came back into view. So once the tire was swapped with the donut (which in my car is giving it more justice than it really is – seriously, donuts are bigger) and was back on my way.

And now the fun part – dealing with the tire place.
