The Highlight Reel: The Watchlist
July 29th, 2006, 1:00 am
By John

The WatchlistIt’s been a while since we did this feature, but The Highlight Reel is back, focusing on different blogs and other websites (although not always good ones).

We start the feature back up with “The Watchlist,” a website about… um… I don’t really know, actually. My gathering is that it’s a we bsite filled with links and eBay auctions that are somewhat related to the entries posted, so let’s break it down.

The Webmaster
Ralph loves to pluck the wings of butterflies and usually dates girls with one leg. Ralph loves to be online, wasting time, snarking both politics and religion, and was once caught skinny dipping in the local gene pool.

Actually, I really couldn’t find much about the webmaster on the site, so I made something up instead. If you find something real, let me know, although my bio is probably funnier.

The Website
I’m definitely not bookmarking this or making this my homepage any time soon, but it’s got some interest to it. The biggest killer, in my mind, is the horrid way the page starts - large banner, then a big ass Google search thing. Major turn-off, and if you don’t get past that, I don’t blame you.

But if you DO get past it, you’ll find a couple of chuckles here and there. He posts about Ann Coutler’s suggested that former President Clinton might be gay, some kid’s show host getting canned for talking about anal sex, and a couple of other things I laughed about. The problem is that it’s all intertwined with eBay jargon here and there, supposedly in relation to the blog (I didn’t think so, but I also didn’t click the link to find out for certain, either).

Your Thoughts
As in the past, we invite you to be a part of this feature by giving us your thoughts. Do you like “The Watchlist?” Do you find yourself attracted to the idea of some of the eBay auctions? Is Bill Clinton gay?

TGO: Please stop emailing me pictures.

John: Thanks for the site review. I made a few changes to the site template late last night (some minor color changes, different intro text, etc). After I saw your review this morning, I dropped the google search tool to the bottom of the blog so it doesn’t annoy people until they have already scrolled all the way through. It is a work in progress.

I don’ I know why TGO thinks I am gay. He has been emailing me some really graphic pictures that he claims are of him along with multiple phone numbers and strange notes. I emailed him back saying that if he keeps it up I will post a few of the emails (including the phone numbers). Hopefully that gets him to stop.

You never did answer as to why you thought he was gay in the first place.

John: Yes. That is my rebuttal because it is the truth. Just because pictures of your cheeks spread out with the Camden Yards “Hit it here” sign super imposed on it might be creative doesn’t mean I want them in my mailbox. Also, the most recent email with the “sexy time story” about your uncle is seriously messed up. Child molesting is a crime and if that really happened to you your uncle should be locked up and you should seek therapy, because it (or something else) has obviously affected you. Again, I really don’t care what you want to call me in some thread, just cut out sending me pictures of your “mangina”, “cookie jar”, or whatever else it is you (or your uncle) like to call it.

John: His reason is because he is trolling for attention. Someone said he was their hero… Hopefully that warm fuzzy feeling will carry him on though another tough year in high school.

First part of the response is to TGO, not John. Maybe my mistake of not proofreading before hitting the submit button is a sign of homosexuality that TGO can explain? I’m sure he will enlighten us.

I don’t really get the ebay auctions in the posts either, but then again I didn’t even really read the posts, from what little I read of the first one I was pretty disgusted and think he has a sick sense of humor… just not my kind of site. The web is a place where people can float whatever boat their little hearts desire. Sometimes that’s an unfortunate thing, in this case though it’s just one of those “mm ok *close*” things. Had it not been for the Hightlight Reel, the “The Grocery List From Hell” graphic would have lost me from the get-go.

    you read his website right?

    Nuff’ said.

it seems youe rebuttle are just as gay as you are, tell us how long you clapped after you learned Lance Bass finally came out of the closet.
If you are going to rebuttle don’t make shit up, your paragraph is nonsense.

    As for you gayboy.

let me guess you are also Gay Aiken’s #1 fan too

Ouch. You really got me with that Lance Bass/Gay Aiken thing. And so original. Wow. As for you saying my paragraph is nonsense, did you see what you just wrote? “… youe rebuttle are just as gay…” And let me guess, by pointing that out you will say that that makes me gay. Am I right? Just thought I would check.

Speaking of your love of the word gay and your amazingly witty insults, have you noticed that each time you talk you say more and more about gay people… Not that I really care either way, but it seems like you have some sort of fascination with gays. I don’t know if you are gay and I could care less. For all I know, you could be a coprophagous dendrophiliac. What I do know though is that you are a troll and a rather dull one at that.

Oddly, this has me amused. Me thinkest thou doth protest too much. If you’re comfortable with your sexuality why not just say “eh, it’s some idiot on the internet who made a snap judgement and doesn’t know me anyway, it’s not going to bother me” instead of being like a chiwahwah barking at the heals of a great dane.

Ooh look big words… oh but yeah, anyone can buy a thesaurus. “For all I know, you could be a coprophagous dendrophiliac.” OH NO TGO! It’s the ultimate insult, you poo eating tree humper you!

If I were TGO I know my feelings would be hurt. Seriously.

Muhahaha Miranda. Don’t tell anyone but I find it amusing too. I also agree with your statement that it’s some idiot making a snap judgement (oh, and playing along with the troll attempt is way too much fun for it to bother me). It was awfully sweet of you to look those words up in your thesaurus for TGO since I busted out some big words. The idea behind using words larger than 3 letters long was to help expand his vocabulary so that just maybe his next trolling attempt will make for a more interesting read.

Who said I had to look anything up? Just because you had to break out the thesaurus to try to childishly insult someone doesn’t mean that I (or anyone else) would have to look up the meaning. You’re trying to make yourself look smart when really you’re just making yourself look like an idiot milking some sudden attention for all it’s worth. You can’t honestly expect anyone to take you seriously.

    By the way, I’m here often… and you’re not… so… umm… who’s the troll?

Miranda: Sorry for the confusion. I just figured since you mentioned something about a thesaurus I figured maybe you had looked it up. I was meaning no insult. And when I said that I find it funny also, that would be a good tip that I don’t expect anyone to take what I said seriously. Maybe I should have bolded it, my bad.

TGO: When you say “bating these idiots” does that mean you were trying to troll? One person is bragging about baiting people, another is saying I’m the troll.

Jen: TGO does rock. I don’t, but I wish I did. I pray every night before I go to bed that the lord will one day give me the power to rock.

John: Thanks again for the link and the site review. Sorry I guess my stuff isn’t exactly the kind of stuff your visitors like. It’s all good though.

Someone out there likes me (in addition to TGO *wink wink*). Part of my most recent post (dated August 2nd) was quoted today on an newspaper in Mumbai India and the article containing the quote (and link to my blog) is on the front page of their website. It’s nothing major, but still a first for me and my 3 month old blog. Hopefully now some of mumbaimirror.com’s 30k hits per day spill over to my blog…
