It’s not often when a mind like Ryan comes up with a good idea. In fact, the last time it happened for him, President Carter was defeated by some actor named Ronald Reagan.
But when he comes up with something, it’s a doozy.

I frequently play at games.atari.com. And I rock. So I propose a Dead End game or tournament or some such thing. A champion MUST be declared!
Therefore, I propose the end all, be all tournament: The Dead End Monopoly Invitational
Don’t ask me how we’ll work it out, because I honestly don’t know. Ryan tells me that atari.com lets you have up to four players a table, so we’d probably have it set up so that the first group of people that want in gets the first table, and if they overflow then the next four seats will be filled, and so on.
That could be the basic idea as far as how we run the actual tournament goes, but what do we play for? Pride? Honor? Bragging rights? Money?
If we go the route for cash prizes, then we could have a $5 entry fee that would cover that - with all the money raised going into the jackpot for the winner.
But what if someone doesn’t want to pay the fee, could they still play? I think it would only be fair to have an open invitational and let anyone that wants to play play, but if they don’t pay, they shouldn’t be eligible to win the money.
And if someone that doesn’t pay wins, then it could go to some kind of charity in the winner’s name.
Nothing is currently in the works. This is just a bunch of potential ideas running around in my mind. It could be fun…
I’ll be honest with you though; it doesn’t matter to me. See, I’ll end up winning anyway. It would be stupid to even HAVE this invitational, really.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see a whole bunch of people wanting to participate, but in the end, I’d only be embarrassing a bunch of faithful TDE readers by schooling them in the art that is Monopoly. True fact: I’m so good, I’ve been banned in four states from playing.
What do you think? Should we make this an official tournament? If so, are you interested in a small nominal fee to play to go to a jackpot for the winner? How do YOU propose we run this?
Share your thoughts in the comments, and we’ll see what happens. Maybe I’ll open up a class in how to lose to a MONOPOLY MASTER.
