The first day of the new job. God, how you dread it. The endless pile of paperwork. The boring speech about how wonderful your new job will be. The discussion of your probationary period. When all that is said and done, it’s time to start training.

But what if the hands-on work is more boring than the orientation video? After the first couple days on the job, you almost wish you were in bed with that beast from the bar, gnawing your arm off to get away from the disaster you drank yourself into instead.

Is it worth giving everything you just got with this new job to go back into the wild, hunting for a job that just isn’t there? Recruiters, agencies, help wanted ads, all with the same jobs with the same pay and the same 50 other people that just got the same response: “Sorry, we just filled the job.”

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go sharpen my teeth.
