I listened to the first ten minutes of the Vice Presidential debate and was pretty impressed with Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s performance, even though she may come off a little “dumb.” I thought that, despite sounding a little bit shaky at first, she came off as aggressive, strong, and willing to fight.
But the “maverick” term kept coming up over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over…
And let’s not get into the inaccuracies…
They both said some stuff that made them sound really smart, but when you actually do your homework you’ll find they really have no fucking clue what they’re talking about.
The same thing can be said about the Presidential nominees, but not so much (we’d like to hope). While both Senators Obama and McCain seem to have their issues retaining facts about each other, this election seems to be focusing more on the choices they made for their running mates.
Senator Joe Biden is an idiot. He likes to say things that could get him into trouble, and he’s known for rambling off and speaking his mind – which isn’t always a good thing. I mean, he said himself that maybe Senator Clinton was a better choice than he was.
Governor Palin is out of her league, but seems to have a spirit that makes people just want to come up and give her a big hug. Her honesty is different, something not really seen much on a national scale, but could also be her downfall.
Too bad we can’t vote for a REAL Maverick.
I remember my family having one when I was young. It was lime green, and we would get in it to go see my father’s family in the Bronx every other weekend. We would drive on the Deegan expressway, and I remember hearing Casey Kasem’s countdown.
Now… THAT’S a Maverick.

The dynamics of this particular US election are so interesting because of the spread of characters. I always feel like the big difference between elections where I live (Australia) and America are the fact that personality pays off so much more in America…
I think I’d vote for your proposed maverick :)
Holy shit, Casey Kasem’s countdown! I remember listening in every weekend when we drove to my grandparent’s house. And when we got there, I never wanted to leave because I wanted to hear who was number one.
But in all honesty, the VP debate was hilarious. My sister and I watched in horror. Although I like Biden. Not necessarily for a VP, but he seems like a pretty cool grandpa.
i think biden was a good choice, hes been around for a while to make up for obamas inexperience. palin is a joke, she was voted more “likable” by viewers, but to be honest i wouldnt want any old hockey mom next in line to run a country
haha! Joe Biden gives me the impression of a man that would cheat his mama for a dollar. That or a really shady car salesman. It cracks me up how the media never mentions the fact that homeboy cheated his way through school and has a history of plagiarism. The only difference between Joe Biden and Barack Hussein Obama is that Barack has a brain. I don’t like that man, but he is intelligent. I like Gov. Palin. She was a great choice by McCain. I don’t always agree with Sen. John McCain, but he has the experience to lead this country. After all the President’s job is to protect our country from all enemies, foreign and domestic. It’s funny how people forget that, you know? It isn’t the President’s job to provide health care, food, housing or any of that crap. It is the responsibility of the individual to provide for themselves and their family. The thought of the Government providing health care is a scary thought.
Anyway, just my thoughts. I enjoyed the post. I like your tone of “voice”.
I am very much bored by politics and I feel horrible about it. However, a lot of (good, responsible) people have been blogging so I have read quite a bit of opinions. I have heard a lot about Sarah Palin but most people seemed extremely unimpressed.
The vice presidential debates just didn’t hold interest for me. Politics never seems to be about the issues but who is more popular. I hate that about our political system.
Perhaps the next presidential debate won’t be like the VP debate.
