Hurricane Katrina caused a lot of damage in the Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama states. The numbers have risen and fallen as to how many people may have actually died. Chaos and mayhem have filled the streets where many people once lived.
Governors and mayors asked their residents to evacuate the area before the storm hit, and for those that could not leave or chose to stay, it’s become a horror movie without the cameras.
I personally know people in the area that I have not heard from, and I can only hope they are doing well. News stories and reports say that it could be months before anyone that left their homes will be allowed to go back.
The sad part is the looting. It’s so bad that police are being asked to stop searching for survivors to go back to the sewage-ridden streets to stop looters. But as my dear friend Ashley pointed out (thanks to the help of AP News), is it really difficult to tell who is looting?
And who said racism is dead?
