Today’s high is 71 degrees. Yesterday it was 84. The day before that? 76.

Personally, I don’t really care anymore considering I work indoors now, but for the fifteen minutes I’m in my car and on my way to work or home, I want to know if I’m going to sweat or freeze.

And for some ridiculous reason, I want to NOT have to watch the local news every single morning.

I do watch the news, but I don’t want to have to watch to find out what I need to wear. I want to know what’s going on with Sarah Palin, I need to know how many more games I need to watch before the Yankees are officially out of the playoff scenario, and whether or not Adam Sandler finally had some kind of drug overdose or something.

But I find myself lately making sure I don’t wear long sleeves in 90 degree weather, shorts in the 60s, and it’s not fair. For the half hour I am outside in “the elements,” I want to be comfortable.

Am I being spoiled? Or do I have merit?

I know what I do every morning is something millions of Americans do to start their day. Make sure the kids are dressed right, send their spouse out the door, whatever. For me, I had no problems having the biggest problem being whether my shirt was clean or not – now I have to actually investigate whether it’s weather-appropriate.

I hope I remember to brush my teeth.

  1. The weather here has been equally crazy. I blame the train of hurricanes and feel grateful that all we have to deal with is a fluctuation in temperatures and some strong winds. I guess there are a couple of weather advantages to living in New England.

*it’s nice not to have to get dressed to put the dogs out at 5 AM :-)*

  2. I have this plugin for my Firefox called Forecast Fox, and it tells me what the current weather conditions are and what the day’s/night’s weather conditions will be. That only really works when you’re at your computer though. Otherwise you can go to mobile.weather.com on your phone.

Also, a big wtf goes out to mother nature.

  3. Ah, I have Forecast Fox, too. I also have a Blackberry weather forecast application…I have naturally curly/frizzy hair, so I need to know when I can straighten it and when I have to drench it in hair products to keep it curly and un-frizzy. :)

  4. Normally, I make sure to check weather.com before I leave, because you can get the hour-by-hour forecast. I like knowing how hot it is actually going to get and when so I can plan accordingly…

  5. Come to Arizona, Then you’ll have no problem figuring out what you need to wear. Just be sure to look out the window during monsoon season so you know whether or not to grab an umbrella.

  6. Hahhah yeah the weather sure can be fickle. The after summer weather has been pretty bad here in The Netherlands as well. In the morning I head to the trainstation and it’s still very cold. When I’m in Amsterdam and get off work It’s warm and I totally feel stupid with my warm jacket *gahhh* I think the only solution is ‘wear layers’. Pack a sweater you can easily take off or put on again …
