The girl at work this morning offered to take me out to breakfast after our shift. I look over and go, “Free?”
She nods.
I am sooooo in.
We drop her car at her guy friend’s house, then head off to get what she says is the best pancakes EVARREARTQRA!!! For the record, they weren’t, but they were pretty good. Seriously, you have to be a total fuck-up to mess up pancakes.
While we’re talking, she’s giving me the run-down as to all the bad qualities her guy friend has, and the one or two good ones she can muster up, but only after thinking about it. Yet she’s fallen for him like five years ago and can’t understand why.
Dont’ get me wrong. I’m not knocking her. She’s a good kid; I like her. She doesn’t seem to know what she wants, or why she’s with someone she clearly doesn’t want to be with. I’m pretty sure she wasn’t dropping hints, because she was happy that he called her last night and decided that he didn’t want a “break” after all.
At least we didn’t talk about work.

Sometimes I find myself putting up with pointless prattle from someone I don’t really like just because they aren’t talking about work or anything too complicated.
