First, I regret to inform our readers that fellow TDE writer Joey Michaels has died gotten married. In all seriousness, a big fat congratulations are due to him.
Now, more of my car drama.
Monday night, some idiot smacked into my parked car. I am not exactly pleased by this, but what can I do, right? At least i can go through the insurance company and get things settled.
I decided that waiting for them to call me back was not satisfactory, so I called MY insurance company and with the help of a wonderful claims agent I was able to get the policy number, VIN, and other information the other guy’s company requested when I first talked with them.
The first thing I noted: The driver of the car is not the name of the guy on the policy. So while I was talking to the insurance company Monday night, we were looking for a guy not insured on the policy.
I’m already sensing problems brewing, so I went online to acquire the state’s Insurance consumer affairs and fraud hotline. After talking with two different insurance companies today (apparently, his company doesn’t handle claims because he’s high-risk, they go through a different adjuster), I was able to get my claim re-filed and now am waiting for the adjuster to contact me.
I’ll wait until then before I make the next move, but my trigger finger’s already itching for that consumer affairs hotline. I’m without a car, without a means to get to and from work, and will be fighting to get whatever it is I can get from them, high-risk or not.
