Eighteen confirmed people, a maximum of twenty people. Tonight at 6:15PM.

How hard is that to understand?

Apparently the woman taking our dinner reservations was more stupid than a brick wall.

“Hi, you’d like to make a reservation for tonight?”
“Yes. At 6:15PM.”
“Okay, but at what time?”
“6:15.”
“What time would you like to make the reservation for?”
“Would you transfer me to someone more able to make reservations? Thanks.”

Another woman was the next on the phone.

“I would like to make a reservation for 6:15PM tonight.”
“Okay, fifteen people at six?”
“I am not doing this again….”
“Could you hold?”

By this point, I’m getting highly annoyed. It’s not rocket science, and there wasn’t any background noise to make it hard for anyone to understand me.

Finally the guy that served a few of us dinner a few nights ago picked up the phone.

“Can I help you?”
“I hope so. I need to make a reservation for 6:15PM tonight for a group of twenty people.”
“Okay… *writes it down* That’s 6:15PM for twenty.”
“THANK YOU!”

Fifteen minutes after calling, I finally had dinner reservations set.

Geez.

  1. Geez hon, why would you want 820 people at a table for the 15th of June?

  2. That sounds like what used to happen at the convenience stores when one would ask for Marlboros. Ever try to tell a person from Egypt that you want Marboros? They stare at you blankly, then you start dumbing it down: Cigarettes. Cancer sticks. Smokes. Smokie, smokies! =D

Just thinking of that makes me happy I quit. =)

  3. Lol that sounds like something that would happen to me.

  4. lol…i am so sorry. but sometimes people are so stupid. but i am glad that you got the whole thing straightened out.
